As the day of your surgery approaches, it’s natural to have questions and concerns. Here’s what you can expect on the day of your surgery to help you feel more prepared:
Pre-Surgery Instructions:
- Follow any specific pre-surgery instructions provided by your surgeon, such as fasting or medication restrictions. Please call their office directly if you have any questions
- Arrive at the surgery center at the designated check-in time
Check-in Process:
- Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our friendly staff at the reception desk.
- You’ll be asked to complete any necessary paperwork, provide insurance information and go over payment
Preparation for Surgery:
- A member of our clinical staff will escort you to our pre-operative area where you’ll change into a surgical gown
- You may need to remove jewelry, contact lenses, glasses, and dentures depending on your surgery. Please leave any valuables at home
- A nurse will review your medical history, allergies, and current medications. Your surgeon and anesthesiologist will also review this information and address any questions or concerns
Anesthesia Administration:
- An anesthesiologist will discuss the type of anesthesia you will receive and address any concerns
Surgery/Procedure:
- Depending on the type of procedure or surgery, the length of time in the operating room will vary
- After your surgery/procedure you’ll be transferred to our recovery area for monitoring as you wake up from anesthesia
- Once you’re awake and stable, a nurse will review discharge instructions with you and the person accompanying you home. Your surgeon will provide specific post-operative instructions, including medications, wound care, and follow-up appointments
